Modified Toll House Cookies

Maybe you've had success with the Nestlé Toll House cookie recipe on the back of their chocolate chips. I haven't. For me, the dough is way too soft and they spread too much when baked. My friend, Dana, solved that problem by using less butter. She added a little more vanilla and they are just right.

2 ¼ c. flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

½ c. butter or margarine, softened

¾ c. sugar

¾ c. brown sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs

2 c. chocolate chips

1 c. chopped nuts, optional

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add dry ingredients, but don’t over mix batter. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 375° for 9-11 minutes.
